Salmond says EU in need of reform
Alex Salmond has said he believes the EU needs to be reformed in terms of its decision-making and regulatory framework.
The first minister was speaking as the SNP launched its campaign for the European elections.
Asked if he was completely happy with the EU and the European Commission, he said: "We think it does need reform both in terms of subsidiarity, that's allowing decisions to be made at the most applicable lowest level nearest the people. Also in terms of proportionality so Europe can get out of people's hair."
His statement comes after an earlier speech to the College of Europe where he said Scotland is a lynchpin of Europe's future.
