The voice of Edinburgh's trams

Debbie Cannon, from Morningside in Edinburgh, has not yet been on the city's trams but her voice will be heard on every journey as reads out the stops and other information.

Debbie told BBC Scotland's Jim Naughtie: "I've been recording bus announcements for Lothian buses for the last couple of years and we tried out various intonations with that and went for a fairly neutral, but at the same time, warm, tone.

She said: "I haven't been on a tram yet but I have a terribly excited 10-year-old son who has been doing a countdown to the trams.

"We'll be in town first thing so that he can have a go on one of the trams and hear my voice."
