Health Secretary Alex Neil calls for suspension of mesh implants
Health Secretary Alex Neil has called for the immediate suspension of the use of mesh implants by the NHS in Scotland.
The implants are used to ease incontinence in women with bladder problems.
A group of women say they have suffered painful and debilitating complications after having the implants fitted and have called for them to be banned.
The Scottish government has said it will set an independent review of the medical devices.
BBC Scotland's political correspondent, Lucy Adams, reports.
