Queen's Baton Relay: First week in Scotland

After a journey of more than 118,000 miles, passing through more than 70 nations and territories, the Queen's Baton arrived in Scotland.

Triple gold medallist Daley Thompson handed the baton to Scottish athlete Eilidh Child on the border at Coldstream bridge to begin the relay on the 14 June.

During the first seven days the relay has travelled across areas in east, south and west Scotland, including Edinburgh, West Lothian, Midlothian, East Lothian, Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway.

Between 14 June and 23 July, the baton will visit all 32 Scottish local authorities ahead of the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on 23 July.

Up to 4,000 baton bearers will take part in the relay. Most of the runners have been chosen because of their work in the local community.
