Glasgow 2014: Tsunami John Chroston hero carries baton
John Chroston was on a family holiday in Thailand in 2004 when the country was rocked by a tsunami, his quick actions saved his family and 15 other tourists, external.
John, who a member of the Ochil Mountain Rescue Team, was on the beach with his daughter when he noticed a fishing boat suddenly left high and dry.
He realised a "major geological event" was about to unfold and when he spotted a bus full of tourists, he persuaded the driver to take them all to higher ground.
John was one of 101 baton bearers who carried the Queen's Baton in Clackmannanshire on Wednesday 25 June.
He told his story to BBC Reporting Scotland.
