Scots councils propose education cuts to make ends meet

A local authority has said it is considering increasing the number of pupils in some of its classes to try to save money.

The radical proposal, at odds with Scottish government policy to keep class sizes small, comes from East Renfrewshire Council who are examining the possibility in English and Maths.

The move comes as councils across Scotland are looking to save at least £150m next year.
