Severe weather warnings issued for Scotland

The Met Office has issued an amber be prepared warning for heavy rain and strong winds for much of Scotland on Friday.

Two storms are thought to be heading towards Scotland. The first is expected in the early hours of Friday morning. The second, from early on Saturday morning, is also expected to cause lightning and gusts of wind reaching 100mph in some places.

An amber be aware warning for rain is already in place for Wednesday.

BBC weather presenter Kawser Quamer said people should be aware of possible disruption to transport, power supplies and structural damage caused by widespread winds.
