Scotland's councils using covert surveillance

Councils in Scotland have used surveillance cameras hundreds of times in the past three years.

A BBC Scotland investigation has discovered Scottish councils have used covert surveillance powers designed to combat serious crime and terrorism on more than 500 occasions in the past three years.

In some cases the surveillance, including bugging and the use of hidden cameras, was used to investigate dog fouling and underage sunbed use.

BBC Scotland's home affairs correspondent Reevel Alderson has this exclusive report.
