Advanced DNA in use at Scottish Crime Campus

New DNA technology which is said to be the most advanced in Europe has been launched at the Scottish Crime Campus in Lanarkshire.

The £6m investment means scientists can obtain DNA profiles from smaller or lower-quality samples than before.

Tom Nelson, head of forensic services for the Scottish Police Authority, said the facilities offered a major step forward in the pursuit of justice.

BBC Scotland's home affairs correspondent Reevel Alderson has had exclusive access to the labs.
