Athlete 'was encouraged to take steroid'
One of the world's best known athletics coaches has been accused of violating anti-doping rules, according to a BBC investigation.
"Mike", one of his former athletes, who wants to remain anonymous, worked for several years under Alberto Salazar, head coach at the Nike Oregon Project.
Feeling run down and training poorly, Mike said he visited Dr Loren Myhre at the Nike lab in 2007.
According to Mike, Dr Myhre's tests revealed that his thyroid function and testosterone levels were low. He said the physiologist, who died in 2012, suggested he should see an endocrinologist used by Alberto to get testosterone and thyroid medicine.
Salazar denied ever endorsing the use of banned substances and said he was committed to clean sport.
Catch Me If You Can will be shown on BBC1 at 2100 on Wednesday, and afterwards on the BBC iPlayer.
