Met Office warns of showers and flash flooding

The Met Office has issued a yellow "be aware" warning for heavy showers which could cause flash flooding across the south of Scotland on Wednesday afternoon.

Sunshine in the morning will mean that the temperature rises quickly to 25-28C and as high as 29 or 30C around Inverness, the northwest Highlands and around Glasgow.

BBC Scotland's Kirsteen Macdonald says the heat will cause heavy thundery showers in the late afternoon and early evening.
