Mundell says Scottish people will decide on second referendum

David Mundell says any decision on a second independence referendum will be taken by the people of Scotland and not just the SNP.

Former First Minister Alex Salmond told the BBC's Andrew Marr, on Sunday, that another referendum was just a matter of timing given that the Scotland Bill fell short of the Smith Commission's recommendations and the Edinburgh Agreement.

The Scottish secretary told BBC Good Morning Scotland's Gary Robertson that any decision on a second referendum is not for the SNP alone: "Ultimately it will be for the people of Scotland to determine whether there is another referendum but it won't be for the SNP to tell the people of Scotland what they're thinking on that issue".

Mr Mundell also called on Nicola Sturgeon to clarify her party's policy.
