Rail campaigner takes first trip on Borders railway line

A veteran rail campaigner who fought to save the Edinburgh to Borders railway line from closure in the 1960s has taken her first trip on its replacement.

Madge Elliot continued to campaign to reopen the line after it was closed as a result of Dr Beechings report which aimed to streamline Britain's railways.

BBC Scotland's transport correspondent David Miller joined Madge and her family for the trip from Waverley station to Tweedbank.
