Shopping boost needed to reverse retail slide

The number of empty shop premises in Scotland grew last month as the number of shoppers fell.

New research from the Scottish Retail Consortium has found that almost one in nine retail premises in Scotland is empty as footfall at the shops was down by 2.4% in a year.

The government says it has invested heavily in town centres.
