New antibiotic could transform C. diff treatment

Clinical trials have begun of a treatment that could fight outbreaks of the bacterial infection Clostridium difficile.

Scientists at Strathclyde University, who developed the antibiotic, say it is the first of a new class of drug that could transform the treatment of potentially fatal diseases.
