Knockshinnoch mine disaster recalled

The collapse of an Ayrshire coal mine 65 years ago, on 7 September 1950, led to one of the most dramatic rescues in the history of the industry.

A sudden influx of peat and moss led to 129 men being trapped underground at the Knockshinnoch Castle Colliery in New Cumnock.

BBC Scotland's Gillian Sharpe has been to hear more about the rescue operation.
