Drivers warned of 'potential defect' in Forth Road Bridge

Motorists are being urged to avoid the Forth Road Bridge after a defect was found in the steelwork underneath the southbound carriageway during a routine inspection.

Amey has said there are several places where they could encounter a similar problem and that they will continue to closely monitor the situation.

Traffic has been reduced to a single lane in each direction and commuters are being advised to check for updates, external throughout the day.
