Minister explains bridge closure

The Forth Road Bridge has been completely closed to traffic to allow repairs to structural faults.

The total closure came into force at midnight on Thursday and the crossing is likely to remain shut for at least 24 hours - and possibly longer.

It follows the closure of the southbound carriageway since the discovery of steelwork defects during inspections on Tuesday.

Bill Whiteford spoke to the Transport Minister Derek Mackay on Radio Scotland's Good Morning Scotland programme.
