Hiroshima survivor recalls atomic bomb horror

An atomic bomb was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on 6 August 1945, hastening the end of World War Two.

Setsuko Thurlow was a 13-year-old school pupil, in class, when the US Air Force dropped Little Boy on its target.

Recalling the horror of the world's first atomic bomb attack, she is now a peace campaigner who wants people to realise the damage such weaponry causes.

The Hiroshima survivor told BBC Scotland's David Allison that she does not believe that nuclear deterrent, such as Trident, protects a country but that the arms race will lead to "catastrophe".
