Scottish tourist praised for River Thames rescue

A Scottish woman has been praised for her part in rescuing a woman who had fallen into the River Thames.

Natalie Harrison reached over the safety barrier to hold the hand of the woman to prevent her being carried away by the fast-flowing water along London's Bankside Pier.

The RNLI's Steve King, based at Tower RNLI lifeboat station, said: "If it wasn't for Natalie's heroic efforts she may have already gone under and we might not have been able to save her."

The woman who was rescued from the river was cold and distressed when she was pulled into the RIB.
