Man and dogs rescued from River Don island

A man and his dogs have been rescued after getting stranded on a small island on the River Don in the Inverurie area.

The alarm was raised at Port Elphinstone after he got into difficulties while walking the dogs.

Rescue teams were called out on Thursday afternoon. Firefighters using an inflatable boat brought them to safety.

The man was not thought to be hurt.
