Scotland's teacher-marked assessments to be scrapped

Major changes are being made to the new school qualifications.

Assessments marked by teachers which count towards a student's final mark are to be scrapped.

The Scottish government says it has listened to teachers' worries about bureaucracy and stress.

EIS, the biggest teachers' union, has said the change is welcome but that other concerns still need to be addressed.
