RAF Typhoon jets escort plane to Prestwick Airport
A passenger plane has landed under military escort at Prestwick Airport.
The Airbus A320 flight had lost contact with air traffic control which led to RAF Typhoon jets being scrambled.
People along the west coast of Scotland heard sonic booms as the jets travelled at supersonic speed, breaking the sound barrier.
There were no passengers on the new Volaris aircraft which was travelling from Toulouse, France, to Iceland when the incident happened.
