Aberdeen's Marischal Square reaches a milestone in its construction with its topping out ceremony.

Marriott Hotels, Aberdeen Journals and Mackie's Ice Cream are among several businesses to have signed up to the £107m office, leisure and retail complex.

More than half of the space has still to be let.

Developers Muse has said that it makes daily checks to ensure the safety of the historic neighbouring Provost Skene's House.

Critics of the scheme claim that it is at odds with the architecture of nearby Marischal College.

The project is on budget and on target to be completed in the summer of 2017.
