Brexit: Article 50 can be triggered without Holyrood input
The Supreme Court has ruled the UK government cannot begin the process of leaving the European Union without the consent of the Westminster parliament.
Delivering the ruling, Lord Neuberger also said the devolved parliaments such as Holyrood do not have to be consulted.
Ministers had argued that they had the authority to trigger Article 50 and begin two years of negotiations.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has pledged to hold a Holyrood vote on the matter regardless of the ruling.
