Cairngorm Mountain Rescue team save injured man during blizzard

A man had to be rescued by Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) during a blizzard.

The 47-year-old slipped on ice and suffered a broken ankle.

He was treated at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness and later released.

Iain Cornfoot, from CMRT, said: “The conditions were severe, and last night's weather has increased the risk of avalanches in the region.

"We would strongly advise people to check weather forecasts before heading into the hills, plan accordingly and make sure they are prepared.”
