Scottish independence: Nicola Sturgeon says UK currency stance 'is bluff'

Scotland's Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the Treasury's stance that there would not be a currency union in a post-Yes Scotland was a bluff and a campaign tactic.

She was speaking after a report in the Guardian quoted an unnamed minister saying a deal could be done to allow Scotland to use the pound even if it voted to leave the UK.

Ms Sturgeon told the BBC: "This quote from a UK minister confirms the fact that the Treasury, the UK government, the No campaign, is bluffing when it comes to a currency union.

"And the quote in the story from the Treasury source that they only said what they said because Alistair Darling told them to, confirms it is all a campaign tactic."
