Events mark the centenary of the Battle of Arras
Events have taken place in Scotland and France to mark the centenary of the Battle of Arras.
Hundreds of people have gathered in Greenock to remember the 18,000 Scottish soldiers who lost their lives.
In France, Scottish schoolchildren laid poppy crosses on the graves of the dead.
Arras was fought from 9 April to 16 May 1917 and marked the beginning of the spring offensive on the Western Front.
