Hillsborough: Joan Hope recounts day son John McBrien died

Joan Hope's 18-year-old son John McBrien, from Holywell in Flintshire, died in the Hillsborough disaster which claimed 96 Liverpool supporters' lives.

In 2009 on the 20th anniversary of the disaster, she told BBC Radio Wales it was hard to come to terms with the manner of her son's death.

It has been 23 years since the disaster in which victims were crushed on overcrowded terraces at an FA Cup semi-final.

Previously unpublished UK government papers are due to be released later, which families and other campaigners hope will shed new light on events on 15 April 1989.

On the 20th anniversary of the tragedy in 2009, Joan Hope told BBC Radio Wales it was a "natural disaster, one caused by a human error."
