Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams 'won wide respect'
It is the final day of Dr Rowan Williams' 10-year tenure as Archbishop of Canterbury, the head of the Church of England and the wider Anglican Communion.
He will be replaced by Justin Welby, the current Bishop of Durham.
Lord Harries of Pentregarth, a former bishop of Oxford, said the Swansea-born Archbishop was a sensitive man who had been "deeply hurt" by criticism, but he had not shown his hurt in public.
Lord Harries told Felicity Evans on BBC Radio Wales that Dr Williams won wide respect.
