NHS obesity action plea by Royal College of Physicians

Services to help obese people are "inadequate" and need to be improved, according to a report from the Royal College of Physicians, with one leading obesity doctor claiming Wales has a bigger problem than England.

It says that doctors and nurses who are seriously overweight are setting a bad example to the people they are trying to treat.

It also suggests there should be a lead physician for obesity at every hospital.

The Welsh government said it is committed to tackling obesity and helping NHS staff make healthy choices.

Dr David Bailey, chairman of the British Medical Association's GP committee in Wales, and Dr Nadim Haboubi, who runs a weight management clinic in Ebbw Vale, told Felicity Evans of their concerns on BBC Radio Wales.
