Llangollen steam railway's Corwen extension delayed

Work to extend Llangollen Railway in Denbighshire has been delayed as steam enthusiasts have come up against a number of barriers over the last year.

The new line is about one and a half miles short of where volunteers wanted to be at this time due to environmental issues such as as drainage and flood relief work.

Also, fund raising has been slower going than was hoped due to the UK economy and with money being tighter for supporters of the project to extend the line three miles to Corwen.

Robert Thomas reports for BBC Radio Wales.
