Meteorite chunk found in Russia by Cardiff scientist
A Cardiff scientist has brought home a chunk of the meteor which landed in the Urals in Russia last month.
The rock injured hundreds of people and caused lots of damage when it broke up on entry into the upper atmosphere.
But it also sparked astronomy fever with thousands of people from all over the world descending on the region looking for fragments.
Elizabeth Pearson, a research astronomer from Cardiff University, spent five days searching and has now brought a piece of meteorite home to the Welsh capital.
She showed it to Gareth Lewis and Felicity Evans on BBC Radio Wales.
