Human cost of coal mining in south Wales discussed at event

An event looking at the human cost of the coal mining industry in south Wales is being held in Swansea.

Historians, trade unionists, doctors and former miners will analyse the dangers faced by miners on a daily basis and how these may have impacted on their future lives.

Dr Steven Thompson from Aberystwyth University, who has organised the event, and Bleddyn Hancock, general secretary of mining deputies' union Nacods in Wales, spoke to Peter Johnson on BBC Radio Wales.
