Wales child abuse: Victim's plea to others

A man who says he was abused at a children's home in the 1970s has urged others who were sexually assaulted to come forward.

An independent investigation examining claims of historical child abuse at homes in north Wales has found "significant evidence of systemic and serious sexual and physical abuse".

Investigators in Operation Pallial have found evidence of 140 allegations of historical abuse between 1963 and 1992.

Seventy six new complainants have also come forward.

The claims centre on 18 homes involving offences against boys and girls aged between seven and 19.

Keith Gregory, a Wrexham councillor who says he was abused at Bryn Estyn care home, said victims were "finally being believed".

He said he thinks there are more victims that have still not come forward and encouraged them to speak out about their experiences.

Mr Gregory said all victims who have spoken to the police give finally receiving counselling and have been fully supported.
