Welsh National Opera chorus in Senedd performance

The chorus of Welsh National Opera (WNO) has celebrated European Opera Days by performing on the steps of the Senedd building in Cardiff Bay.

The 39-strong group of singers sang the rousing bridal march from Wagner's opera Lohengrin during the free performance.

The event is part of a festival held every May by opera companies worldwide to show the art form is not elitist.

David Pountney, WNO's chief executive and artistic director, told Peter Johnson on BBC Radio Wales' Good Morning Wales that the Senedd was a fitting place for the company to give a free performance.
