Care home neglect case collapse prompts public inquiry call

Families at the centre of Britain's biggest investigation into alleged neglect in nursing homes have spoken to BBC Wales, seeking justice for their loved ones.

In tonight's Week In Week Out programme the Older People's Commissioner for Wales calls for a public inquiry into what she describes as "a catalogue of failure".

Gwent Police conducted a massive inquiry into alleged neglect in nursing homes, Operation Jasmine. It cost £11m, lasted 11 years and identified 100 potential victims.

The case collapsed after care home owner Dr Prana Das was left brain damaged after being attacked at his home and unable to stand trial.
