Grogg creator John Hughes, from Pontypridd, dies
The man who created Groggs, the hand-carved caricatures celebrating sporting heroes and other celebrities, has died.
John Hughes, who was 79 and from Pontypridd, passed away after a long illness.
Mr Hughes became well known for creating caricatures of famous names, including Elvis Presley and Welsh rugby greats such as Gareth Edwards.
Pontypridd RFC described Mr Hughes as "a passionate supporter of Welsh rugby, particularly so of Pontypridd".
BBC Wales Today's Carwyn Jones went to meet Mr Hughes when he celebrated 40 years of making Groggs in 2005.
