Mother bugged autistic son's cuddly toy over respite concern

The mother of an autistic teenager hid a recording device in his cuddly toy when she suspected respite centre carers of inappropriate behaviour.

Christine Mayor acted after 15-year-old Kyle, who is not very verbal, began to used bad language and showed signs of distress at going to the respite home.

Ms Mayor recorded swearing and verbal abuse by four staff at the Rhondda Cynon Taf-run Nantgwyn home.

The council said the dialogue was "wholly inappropriate".

Four staff at the home have been disciplined.

Ms Mayor spoke to BBC Wales reporter Stephen Fairclough.
