Merthyr Tydfil iron works exposed by DIY store project

Developers building a new DIY store in Merthyr Tydfil have uncovered significant remains of the Cyfarthfa iron works.

Until now little was known about the coking plant which provided fuel for the works.

Archaeologists working on the site say the discoveries they are making add important new knowledge to the history of the industrial revolution across Britain.
