Dannie Abse describes meeting Dylan Thomas in London pub

The Welsh writer and poet Dannie Abse celebrated his 90th birthday on Sunday.

The Cardiff-born writer has produced dozens of books during a long career, during which he also practised as a doctor.

His first poetry collection was accepted for publication while he was training in London to be a doctor.

Around this time the legendary poet Dylan Thomas, who was from Swansea, was also working in London.

The two had one meeting in a pub when Thomas denied knowing Abse's cousin.

Abse told BBC Wales arts and media correspondent Huw Thomas what happened.
