How further education changed depressed woman's life

A woman who suffered depression throughout her life told how a further education (FE) course changed her life, as cuts are announced to the FE sector.

Linda Sullivan, from Ely in Cardiff, signed up for a further education course at Michaelston Adult Centre in 2009 when she thought life was not worth living.

She said FE also allowed her to work within her community and change other people's lives.

The ATL teaching union said there would be a "devastating" impact if the proposed £44.9m cuts go ahead.

The Welsh government said it would work closely with colleges "to minimise the impact of any reductions on learning".
