US Ambassador Matthew Barzun says Nato summit huge for Wales

The new US Ambassador to the UK has said that next year's Nato summit being held at Newport is a huge opportunity for Wales.

Matthew Barzun was speaking to BBC Wales at the Senedd in Cardiff during his first official visit to Wales.

The prime minister announced last week that the first Nato summit to be held in the UK since 1990 would be hosted at the Celtic Manor Resort.

Ambassador Barzun, at 43, is the youngest US ambassador to the UK in history and has been in the post for just two months.

He was given a tour of the Senedd by Presiding Officer Rosemary Butler and is also meeting First Minister Carwyn Jones for the first time.

It was there that BBC Wales' political editor Nick Servini caught up with the ambassador.
