Housing associations boost economy by £1bn

Not for profit housing associations have helped to boost the Welsh economy by £1bn in the last year, figures show.

Building new homes, dealing with recycling and providing meals on wheels are all services traditionally associated with councils.

But new research shows housing associations are now providing more of them and that of the £1bn spent in 2012-13, about £840m stayed within the Welsh economy.
