Elf and Safety: The truth about festive fun-spoiling rules

A ban on throwing sweets at pantomimes and Santa needing a seatbelt in his sleigh, are just two of the comical health and safety rules enforced at Christmas.

Other prevent people putting coins in Christmas puddings, traditional shopping centre trees being replaced by artificial alternatives and children being banned from throwing snowballs.

Now, the UK's health and safety minister Mike Penning is encouraging the public to "shop in a scrooge" and bust some of the more ridiculous festive fun-spoiling rules.

Samantha Peace, regional director for the Health and Safety Executive in Wales, spoke to Oliver Hides on Good Morning Wales in a bid to dispel some of the myths.
