Soldiers' NHS waiting time a scandal, says Alun Cairns MP

Vale of Glamorgan MP Alun Cairns says Welsh soldiers deserve prompt treatment and anything less is a "scandal".

His comments come after the Sun on Sunday newspaper reported the armed forces' most senior medical officer, Surgeon General Air Marshal Paul Evans, wants soldiers to be moved to England for treatment as they face longer waits in Wales.

A Welsh government spokesperson said the claims were "inaccurate and totally misleading".

But Conservative MP Mr Cairns said the issue was being raised at the highest level by a medical expert, the surgeon general, who was concerned about the welfare of services personnel.
