OAP poverty 'can be prevented'
Age Cymru has raised concerns about poverty among pensioners after one of its reports revealed 50,000 elderly people in Wales were living in severe poverty.
Many are not claiming the benefits they are entitled to, leaving 84,000 under the Department of Work and Pensions defined poverty line and 200,000 reporting cutbacks on food, heat and social activity spending.
One-third of those eligible for it are not claiming Pension Credit.
Graeme Francis, head of policy and public affairs at Age Cymru, told BBC Wales: "We think this situation is eminently preventable."
