Gleision: Mine families need answers, says MP Peter Hain

The families of four men who drowned in a Swansea Valley drift mine in 2011 still need answers says Neath MP Peter Hain, after the pit manager and its owners were cleared of manslaughter.

Charles Breslin, 62, David Powell, 50, Philip Hill, 44, and Garry Jenkins, 39, died at the Gleision colliery when a controlled explosion let in the water.

Mine manager Malcolm Fyfield and MNS Mining Ltd denied the charges during a three-month trial at Swansea Crown Court.

BBC Radio Wales presenter Huw Thomas asked Mr Hain if he thought prosecutors were right to go to trial.
