Wales 'catching up' on green energy says Eco 2 chief

Business people in Wales are joining forces with ministers to try to sell Wales as a great place for green businesses to invest.

A prospectus called Green Growth Wales is being launched in the City of London.

It says Wales has a wealth of natural resources and customised support for the green sector.

The Welsh government said it was committed to an environment where business could invest with confidence.

David Williams, chief executive of Cardiff-based Eco 2, has been involved in renewable energy schemes ranging from wind farms to a biomass plant in Port Talbot burning recycled wood.

He said Wales has been at a disadvantage in not having control over energy tariffs but there was now a political will to make difficult planning decisions which could be unpopular.
