Pupils push Wrexham council to pay workers living wage

Campaigning schoolchildren have met the leader of a north Wales council to ask for its employees to be paid at least the living wage.

The pupils from St Joseph's School, Wrexham, have been working with a charity to raise awareness of the issue.

Currently, the minimum wage is £6.31 an hour but the living wage is £7.65.

It is calculated by experts who have assessed what is needed to cover the basic cost of living, and works out as £15,500 a year.
